The Singapore Family Tree (SFT) vision is to be a one-stop genealogy portal connecting Singaporeans past and present, local and overseas, preserving their personal, family and community heritage, and deepening their sense of community, rootedness and connectivity with their ancestral cultures.

SFT provides a portal for individuals to build their “family trees” online using their personal artifacts, digital images, videos, oral recordings and particulars of family members and relatives.

Besides being a repository of "family trees" and digitized personal artifacts, the SFT will enable individuals or groups to search for long lost friends and relatives, and form virtual communities based on professions, hobbies or other personal attributes. It has links to NHB’s online resources to facilitate search and retrieval of relevant archival material. It also serves as a single point of contact for family members and friends who are overseas, thus deepening their "rootedness" to Singapore.
